Arguing the Property Lines

One is thought quite backward if
He doesn’t think that nature’s all,
But backward all the bloodhounds sniff
That answer nature’s other call.

Science marks its territory
On the tripod of its scope,
But I who mark the hinter-glory
Stand biped on love and hope.

Unbelief will only stunt me.
Longing makes me move about
The country to the rear of country
And relieve myself of doubt.

God is not ahead of us
For all the brilliance of his mind.
What forward fact looks at for less
Shy faith lags back to look behind.
